The K.A.R.A.T. School of learning is at a new location:
105 West 4th Street, Greensburg, PA 15601. Please contact us to come in for a tour, to shadow for the day or just to get more information on how K.A.R.A.T. can become the measure for your teenager's education.
To the right, K.A.R.A.T. is Cycling for Recyling. On this day, the K.A.R.A.T. School of Learning cycled 12 miles to help increase awareness in the community by cycling to the Westmoreland Community College.
The K.A.R.A.T. ® School of Learning exists to uplift and educate non-traditional students. We pride ourselves on sharing the precious gift of knowledge with those that have been marginalized and overlooked by the traditional school system and educators. There are students in our traditional school systems who are told that, “You will never amount to anything” or “Why are you even trying, you know you are a failure” or “Just give up, you will always be a loser.” These very students are the ones who have a heart for learning but do not learn as a traditional student would learn. They are sometimes labeled as trouble makers because they get bored easily and they usually finish the class lessons ahead of time. At the K.A.R.A.T. ® School of Learning, we take our classes to a level that students are engaged, involved with physical interaction and hands on learning with integrated subjects and curriculum.
The K.A.R.A.T. ® students get involved with their neighborhood by performing community service. Often our work will take us to a local business or a home of Westmoreland County. We have moved a piano, transferred furniture, cleaned and organized storage, served at the End Hunger Now Soup Kitchen and clothing pantry in Latrobe, befriended the residents of the Greensburg Nursing Home, helped with a project involving Tidwell Realty and much more. Recently, K.A.R.A.T. ® painted a mural for ReStore – Habitat for Humanity. Habitat for Humanity is known for helping build affordable housing for people in need, and last week, K.A.R.A.T. ® was able to help them by teaming up with Jackie Hochard of Go faux it! . Together, a mural was created and painted to reflect the support of families and our community by using bright colors, incorporating the recycle symbol into the tree tops and creating homes that represent love and hope.
K.A.R.A.T. ® would love to have you join us on any of our community service trips. K.A.R.A.T. ® usually performs their service trips on Friday of each week but is not limited to just this day. If you have a need that K.A.R.A.T. ® can help with or would just like to learn more about the K.A.R.A.T. ® School of Learning, please visit our website at www.karatlearning.com.
